1. Drink more water

Dehydration can cause constipation, make sure to drink minimum 2 littles of water a day, but avoid drinking immediately before or after a meal. Drinking a glass of warm water in the morning helps in peristalsis. Having a glass of warm water with fresh lime in the morning also helps in constipation.

2. Eating more fibre

The most important factor curing constipation is eating natural and simple diet, with lots of raw salads and green vegetables. The diet should consist of unrefined foods such as wholegrain cereals, bran, lentils, leafy green vegetables, and dried and fresh fruits.

Avoiding sugar and sugary foods, white flour, cakes, biscuits and any processed food is very important.

3. Beal Fruit or Wood Apple

Bael fruit is regarded as the best of all laxatives. It cleans and tones up the intestines. Its regular use for 2 to 3 months helps in removing all the old accumulated faecal matter.

Figs are very good home remedy for constipation. Both fresh and dry figs have a laxative effect. Having 4-5 figs soaked overnight in a little water and eating them in the morning or blending them to have as a juice in the morning helps with constipation.

6. Guava

Guava is another effective remedy for constipation. When eaten with seeds, it provides roughage to the diet and helps in the normal evacuation of the bowels. One or two guava should be taken everyday.

7. Spinach

Among the vegetables spinach has been considered to be the most vital food for the entire digestive tract. Spinach contains the finest organic material for the cleansing, reconstruction, and regeneration of the intestinal track. 

Consuming spinach juice or in the smoottie helps in constipation.

8. castor oil

Another home remedy for constipation is having a table spoon of castor oil with a half a cup of orange juice, at night ensures regular motion. Make sure you do not consume it more than once a week and preferably on a weekend.
